Sounds like the old "Gilligan's Island" theme, doesn't it? The reality is much nicer (and with a better ending, too!).

We've always found so much to do in and around Freeport that we are sometimes a little surprised when someone asks if there is anything to do here. Some aren't even aware of L.L. Bean's flagship store (and the other L.L. Bean stores), or the other 160-plus stores and outlets in town. But the other question is "What else?"

Shortly after returning home from our holidays in the United Kingdom, we received an email forwarding long-awaited information on the artists and dates for the annual L.L. Bean Summer Concert Series for 2008.

A sad departure and an eager return. Off to Heathrow about 8:00 a.m. for a 10:50 a.m. departure. We did a bit of last minute souvenir shopping, then it was time to board, and we were off for Washington's Dulles Airport. From Dulles it was on to Portland, where our friend Karen (if you were with us for Day 1 - Karen is Don's better half) met us to drive us home.

It was a long day (especially with the 5 hour time change), but we were happy to be back in familiar surroundings.
