Fall Foliage Already?
Across the street from Brewster House is a maple tree that is always the first tree to turn. It actually begins to get some red and yellow in early
August, and is in full swing by the beginning of September (above - taken August 28 this year)!
It is not only beautiful, but it is also a great reminder that now is the time to make plans for fall foliage visits to Brewster House. The article contains information on peak viewing times throughout
Maine, and resources for tracking the foliage. Using our availability calendar, you can make certain that we have rooms available for the dates you would like to be here.
Don't forget that all three area colleges (Bates, Bowdoin and Colby) have Parents' weekends during the leaf-peeping season, sometimes making rooms
Open Houses for Historic
Six of Freeport's historic bed and breakfasts (including Brewster House, of course) are holding a series of open houses from August through December.
Part of the purpose is to simply expose people to the beautiful homes, and let them see what it is like to stay in a historic old house. Another
purpose is th share the history of the homes.
Our first open house was last week (August 22). There wasn't much publicity, so we were not too surprised when only a few people attended. We did
hand out a number of flyers with background and location of the B&B's, so we do hope that the turnout will increase for the upcoming dates.
If you would like to learn more about the history of these classic and beautiful homes, you may download the pdf flyer (Adobe Reader required). We
hope that will whet your interest in coming to one or more of the scheduled open houses, on September 19, October 24, or during Sparkle Weekend, on
December 6. The open houses are all scheduled from 2-4 p.m., though the December 6 event may be moved to a different time slot to accommodate other
We were notified by the State that their work on Interstate 295 southbound from Augusta to Topsham (see map) has been completed for 2008. We
understand that there will be similar work next summer.
We've added a fall special that combines our popular "Sail into the Sunset" package with our "Fuel Saver" package. We call it "Fall Foliage Surf and Turf". The special includes a two night stay at Brewster House (queen room, double occupancy), a cruise on
an antique schooner, a $100 shopping gift card, a $50 restaurant gift certificate and a $50 gasoline card (to help with travel costs). Visit our web site for details.
