New Specials for 2010
In addition to extending our Shop, Dine, Stay and Play
special through April, we are working on new specials (as well as a few other surprises to be revealed later!), throughout the year.
We plan to keep many of our existing specials, such as our Winter Getaways in Maine, February is for Romance, and our Birthday, Anniversary and Honeymoon specials, as well as our Sail into the Sunset, Schooners and Lighthouses, Lighthouse Tour, and Fall Foliage packages. However, we are looking into ways to make them even more attractive! However, beginning in May we will be offering monthly specials (some may remain constant throughout the summer and fall high season) so there will always be something exciting to attract new friends, and encourage existing friends to return to Brewster House.
As we've mentioned previously, the slower winter season is our time to work on our projects at Brewster House. This year the transformations began early - before Thanksgiving - with the changes in Room Five, the front room on the second floor, with a bay window. It had been a nice shade of gray, appearing almost blue-gray in certain lights. The room had a red, white and blue floral bedspread which needed to be replaced.
We located a very pretty new bedspread, with matching valances for the windows, in aqua, with gold accents. We found a honey-colored paint for the room, and painted the bath the same aqua as the bedding (photo above). We also updated the bath with some new features. New chairs for the bay window completed the transformation.
As previous Flavors of Freeport visitors will recall, the first two Flavors events took place in February, which is heart month, and were to benefit the American Heart Association.
The new website and detailed schedule of events have not yet been disclosed (the new website should be up and running in about a week or two), there are some exciting changes in the works, so we decided to "let the cat out of the bag" on a few of them.
While the Flavors organizers (the members of Destination Freeport) were very pleased with that relationship, the decision was made a year ago to move the event to April, and broaden the areas of support, by involving United Way and Freeport Community Services. To that end, the planning committee has been busily working to pull together the 2010 Flavors of Freeport event, now being held April 9-11.
