Freeport is gearing up for the second annual Flavors of Freeport festival (last year the event was called "Music and Libations" but the name was
changed to better reflect the planned activities).
The big weekend includes a Chef's Signature Series (where Brewster House and the other historic B&B's in the area are providing a chocolate
challenge) with chefs from around the area providing samplings and demonstrations, as well as music, dancing, dance lessons, beer and wine tastings,
and much more!
Event tickets are available at the Freeport Downtown Hilton Garden Inn, and rooms are still available at Brewster House as well as other lodging
establishments.
If your weather has been at all like Freeport's, it has been a cold,
snowy, winter so far. In December we had several good snows - one
dropping about 16 inches on us (fortunately, we were in Oregon visiting
Ruth's mother at the time, where we had about a foot of snow and ice!
So much for that escape).
We were home in January for a good snowfall. We had been predicted
to receive about 6-8 inches, and we didn't hear the "official"
measurement, but our parking lot had about 20 inches of fresh powder on
it when we got up the next morning.
Wow! Like much of the eastern and northeastern US, Freeport has been in the grip of cold winter weather for several days.
The past two mornings the early a.m. temperature has been -15 and
-10 degrees F (that's -26 and -23 C for those who use Celsius). We're
supposed to warm up a bit tomorrow - to about 20 degrees F (about -7
C), and more snow is on the way.

Specials and
Packages
We've already mentioned in previous newsletters that many of our 2009 packages and specials have been posted, so
we won't run through the list again this month (though we do think there are some interesting things to see there). However, don't forget that, in
addition to the prepared packages, we also invite you to mix and match features from different packages, and we'll help you come up with one that is
just right for you!
We are also interested in hearing from you on a couple of items. First, if there is a package or special that you think would appeal to a significant
portion of our guests, please send us an email and, if we
agree, we'll consider adding it to our list.
In addition, we're considering offering wedding packages (we can only handle modest-sized groups, of course) at Brewster House. Do you think this
would be something people would like? Any suggestions? Do you know someone who has an upcoming marriage who might be a good candidate? Please let us know your thoughts, and also have any friends or family with
upcoming wedding plans get in touch with us if they might be
interested. Thank you!
